Most island and remote-Highland forecourts pay considerably more for fuel deliveries, which arrive by tanker ferry or long-haul road. There's also far less competition: a single station may serve a whole island. The Rural Fuel Duty Relief scheme returns 5p per litre to retailers in eligible areas, but it doesn't fully close the gap.

It varies day to day, but the cheapest unleaded is almost always at a supermarket forecourt in the Central Belt. The stats card at the top of this page shows the current cheapest E10 and diesel station in Scotland, updated hourly.

Typically yes in cities and towns where supermarkets compete with each other. In rural Scotland the picture flips, with independents sometimes the only option, and pricing reflects the lack of competition.
